Paper Playne is a design blog started by Daniel Kiyoi and Craig Kaneko. It’s host to a wide variety of visuals, from illustration to wedding photos to home decor. Throughout, however, there runs a pretty consistent stream of uncluttered imagery with a soft, feminine color palette. It’s hard to put your finger on just what makes all these images stick together so well. Maybe it’s just the kind of person we imagine fawning over it all…which isn’t hard to imagine if you match the above photographs of the woman and room both heralding a common muted modern/vintage design clash.
Paper Playne also offers a fun and easy way to spruce up certain paper goods, like gift-tags and cards. Their items are all down-loadable for a price which allows the customer to print and cut the paper themselves.
Ice Monster Crew:
The Execution…The world is now keenly aware of the terrors of Ice Monsters. Mission accomplished.
(One really important take-away from this project: Don’t bother trying to stencil on hard snow. A fresh, or semi-fresh, snow cover is best because it allows you to create a flat surface. Otherwise it’s all bubbly and won’t catch the lines of the stencil.)
The Ice Monster Crew stencil is to be used on snow banks to alert passers by with the reality of snow monster attacks. By stenciling on snow, people may even think the monster might come alive right out of the snow and devour them. This is the desired effect. We must no longer be uneducated as American citizens to the dangers of Ice Monsters. This stencil could also be done as a mold, which would be planted over the snow and removed, leaving an embossed image of the monster. This would make the dangers even more real.
